Thank You all, I will check out Lumley and Dawes.
@jamesatfish, I don't have a CAMS license or any motorsport experience, but I will probably look into this though. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd strongly suggest getting your licence and having a go at some motorsport or driver training activities - both to help the insurance situation and to be able to better enjoy the Gallardo when you get it.  A CAMS 2S licence is about as difficult to get as the toy in a Happy Meal - the hardest thing you'll do is make sure your cheque clears.

Surprised about Shannons... did you ask for a supervisor to have a chat to? Age / driving record suggests it shouldn't be a flat out no.

My Gallardo spyder is with them and they made it pretty easy.
C'mon, do it!

I was on the phone with Shannon's. They want 2% plus on the lambo.

I'm only 1% on the Lambos.

Same here, 1% with Shannon on the Lambo and Pony on multi-car policy.  Gave a pretty inclusive history that ticked all the boxes, that seems to play into it a fair bit with them.

Are you a member of a club? That makes a difference.
Having a multicar policy with them makes a difference (and your house or contents).
Mention Lumleys are doing 1% and they will likely cave. That is the big competition for them.

Take Andre's advice and ask to speak to a supervisor - say you are confused as the Secretary of the Maserati Owners Club of Australia (me) has recommended Shannons only! Happy to help. Join a club that sways...

I did ask to speak to a Supervisor and it still made no difference. They want some driving experience with a similar car for minimum 1-2 years :(
Also Lumley's don't insure for anything more than $150k.

??
Lumley had no problem up to $1mil. When it got over that, they chucked a stink so I moved to Shannons.

i had a similar experience, i tried Shannon's and the supervisor laughed at me when I said I had 8 years claim free with an M3. Not in the same league.  Iirc, I was paying 2% with Dawes

2% ??

In my experience premiums are pretty much universally 1% of the insured value of the vehicle. Only exception would be dirt cheap cars where the % is higher.
