Lamborghini has unveiled a new Gallardo variant at the Qatar Motor Show in the Middle East. Called the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-4 Bicolore, it will feature – as the name suggests – a four-wheel drive system and a bespoke two-tone colour scheme.

This new car will be sold in European markets as well as those in the Asia-Pacific region. A different version will be designated for American buyers, however. The US version will be called the Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-2 Bicolore and will get a rear-wheel drive set-up similar to the one found in the Gallardo Balboni edition.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, depending on your tastes, Australia is likely to get the four-wheel drive LP550-4 edition. Either way, the Bicolore is a limited edition most evident by its Noctis Black roof, A-pillars and rear engine cover section that contrasts five optional body colours: Giallo Midas (yellow), Arancio Borealis (orange), Grigio Telesto (grey), Bianco Monocerus (white) and Blu Caelum (blue).

Other major highlights include a vast range standard equipment including sat-nav, reversing camera, Nero Persus leather-covered dashboard and door panels, ceramic disc brakes and electric heated seats. The interior is also treated to a similar two-tone colour theme, matching the exterior.

In the back, there’s a 410kW (550hp) 5.2-litre V10 engine matched to an automatic electro-hydraulic ‘E-gear’ six-speed transmission. With these technical features, Lamborghini says the car will do the 0-100km/h sprint in just 3.7 seconds.

Stephen Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, spoke about the car at its launch, saying,

“With the Gallardo LP 560-4 Bicolore, Lamborghini demonstrates once again the extreme, uncompromising and unmistakably Italian nature of our brand. The super sports cars from Lamborghini combine volcanic energy with design that is as unique as it is stylish.”

The Lamborghini Gallardo LP550-4 Bicolore price and official release date are yet to be finalised. We’ll keep you posted.

Don't think it looks as good as the Gallardo SE did. Two tone doesn't fit so much with the LP560 shape as well to me.

Big difference is that the SE had the pillars in body colour, so it didn't look quite so disjointed like a choc-top icecream.

Lambo are now overdoing all the specials, seriously whats the point of releasing 3 of the same car with different paint schemes and two versions with a 10 HP difference

Straight out of the Aston Martin manual............and Porsche (Ash's inspiration post) ...........they're all doing it.  At least Lambo, Ferrari,Pagani, Jag are having a go with brand new models , even if there's more hits than misses in some cases.

I notice some of the Aston diehards have finally cracked it over on Pistonheads with the release of yet another half arsed update and number are moving across to the darkside with me in the XKR  :D A mate of mine who's a big Aston fan once said something like " you'll know Aston have lost the plot when they bring out a Dr Bez Special Edition DBS" and guess what they did in March 2010?

Although this new Lambo is nothing much and they're not my style of car they do get points for at least continuining to refresh their lineup at reasonably regular intervals.
