Is it just me or does it seem that there aren't any online reviews/roadtests of the NON Valentino Balboni LP550-2? I'm looking at finding out about the non-obvious differences between the LP550-2 and the LP560-4.
Anyone got any links they could point me to?

Also, does anyone have any clue as to what will possibly happen when Lamborghini replaces the Gallardo platform next year? I'm afraid the LP550 at its "affordable" price point will be cut :(

I always thought that all LP550-2's were Balboni's. Wasn't until I asked my uncle about his that the penny dropped. Basically the Balboni was just a limited run cosmetic package for the 550.

As for differences between the 550 and 560 (other than the obvious AWD v RWD and power) are:

- New springs, dampers, stabilisers and tyres
- Adjusted aerodynamics
- Redeveloped rear axle differential with a 45 percent limited slip
- New calibration of the e-gear transmission and ESP
- Dry weight of 1,380 kilograms

Word from someone in the know is that an 'affordable' RWD Gallardo replacement won't make the cut.

You must be channelling Winkelmann's deepest thoughts.   ;)

Thanks very much for the information. I'm a bit disappointed by the lack of a LP550 replacement next year. Do you by any chance have a rough estimate as to when the LP550 will no longer be available for order? In other words, when does Gallardo production stop?

Haha, actually I was going off what you said in another thread.

I wouldn't have a clue, but to give you a rough timeline Lamborghini are rumoured to be showing a final special edition at the Frankfurt motor show next month to send off the Gallardo.

Didn't know it was so close.  I'm surprised no mules have been spotted - or have they?

I thought they would only be released in 2013... so the concept at next year's Frankfurt show maybe?

That's what I have read too... March next year doesn't sound right.

They are likely to be hiding under Gallardo bodies so would go unnoticed.
