I've had one that happened BIG time; but it took a decade.

I have daily contact through work with some really dodgy and dangerous characters. Wouldn't ever consider engaging their services as they would turn on you as soon as it suited them.
One of the mild and meekest ended up murdering another patient 100 mtrs from where I am sitting. You never know what you are dealing with !

well, obviously....

I have to say, given my nearly 1000 jobs invoiced in the last 9 years since I started my Aussie based business... I've had an incredibly good run, with hardly any bad debts at all. I think only 4 or 5, and most of those for trivial amounts.

I do seem to attract an incredible amount of credit abuse though.... I think I'm subsidising at least 30 multi millionares right now...

Kinda grates a bit... but hey, such is life...

In my experience, the real 'organised' criminal always pays -  usually straight away, no questions asked.  The other criminal aka the government, will take up to 3 months to pay, and even then, questions asked.

The bad debt that hurt the most is a 'company director' who asked for after hours services on xmas day one year, was quoted a fee and told to pay on the day -  forgot his wallet, then the cheque bounced, then 6 months later declared bankrupt.  All he had to say was " I'm only in this position because people owe me money" -  this guy knowingly took people for a ride.
