Or just get the car put on the SEVS list, then RAWS it and pay the money...

All it needs is a letter to be written....... oh, and a gazillion man hours of bull shit.

Or, Aussie guy buys an address, (maybe as little as a PO box) in NZ, 1 year later, import as PI....

Path of least resistance is worth the investigation I think. Seems if it's 'easy' for the current owner to meet whatever immigration requirements are needed for legal PI, then this is doable? If the obligations are too much, then it's a no goer.

Easy calculation - best case he looks like needing 200K, there is a roadster in Qld for 300K ... so unless all the planning/effort provides a big benefit (say, landed and all sorted here for less than 250K) - it'd be better just to negotiate locally safe in the knowledge it's not going to be easy for others to turn up...
C'mon, do it!

These are on the SEVS already but no one has taken up the RAWS.

In order for NZ owner to bring it here permanently, they must become a permanent resident.

Awesome research Mondi. NZ is no easier than anywhere else then, so unless the owner is planning to come across permanently then this line of thought is a dead end.

Aussie one at 300K seems not totally unreasonable then if that's the dream car to own.
C'mon, do it!

Well, they certainly stitched up any holes I can think of, that's that then.
