Description   MK1 Lotus Cortina. Feb 1966. Known to the Lotus Cortina Register and the USA based Locort Register.

With a new family and a change in priorities I have made the hard decision to sell. it was either this car or my GT500. The GT500 won out.

Very original car with provenance including logbook, registration papers, handbook, supplement, historical photos and even a speeding fine from 1979. I personally imported this car from Texas, USA.

This Lotus Cortina is matching numbers with both VIN tag and identity tags and body stamping clearly visible. In the world of fully restored cars, I chose to leave as much original patina the car has gathered over the years (including a repaint in the 1980's) Taking this minimalist approach I only did what I had to get it registered and on the road. The car still has its original lotus engine, gearbox, drive-train, and bespoke interior - including original steering wheel, shift knob, gauges, Indy winners badge and English Ford Line seat belts (super super rare) are all present and correct. The only work I had to do to get it on the road and safe was new tyres, repairs to brakes and suspension, new hand made stainless steel exhaust (to the exact specs of the originals), new indicators, a tune and service. I have not touched the interior, paint or body work. The car is dead straight and rust free. By rust free, I mean never any rust ever!

The car is very reliable, the engine revs freely, the box shifts effortlessly, it handles and stops well and turns heads wherever she goes.

Being LHD I thought it would be a pain to drive, but with exceptional visibility and given how reliable the car is I have been using this car as my daily drive for two years with no problems what so ever.

I will post more pics tonight of the underbody, interior etc.

I will help arrange transport to any destination once full payment is received. Please call Andy on 0408 024 662.

yeah... 1965 and $55k....

strange...

nice car, but I can't see how anyone would want a US original LHD of an Iconic British classic....

Surely you'd just buy a UK one?

my thoughts entirely but the ones in USA would be cheap for that reason.
