Problem is that the Esprit in the auction was a S1 and this red one is a S3 Turbo. It's like tarting up a 355 into a famous 308 - won't work.

Short Description   1983 (non-cat) turbo esprit. Aus delivered, new turbo installed very fast.

Description   low price as car must sell now, no space to keep her! Piston three┐s rings have gone, still runs with band new Turbo this is the reason for such a low price. All standard, unmolested. I have spent a large amount of money on this car which I will not get back... The gearbox has had all the linkages and bushes done / rebuilt the timing system / new belts / leads / all liquids and filters done / new turbo, high speed balanced. All this work has been done over like the last 100kms. The only thing that is left is the suspension bushes that I haven?t had time to get done and as I am selling will not bother as they don?t really need to be done yet. The car also has a few braided lines such as the clutch. The Tyres have 98% tread left. paint is good, front bumper has a few, like 3 or something stone chips and thats about it.
please no time wasters or test pilots!!!! Please call not email 0405 360 640. Only sensible offers.

With any esprit, regardless of what year it is, you can instantly sink $50k in it if needs work. So, some models, even if they are given to you for free, they would not be worth repairing.

i know this may be a silly question, but is there any chance this car is still for sale?

It is no longer advertised anywhere so my guess is it has probably sold.

At $16,000 still a bargain especially if you can drop a reco engine in at a reasonable cost. Repairs prob. 10-20k but I am only guessing based on my turbo esprit ownership of 15 years.
