Hmm - is there anything that's a 100% indication they're the same car and not just a massive coincidence?  FWIW the carpoint ad it's 45k km, in the ebay ad it's 44k miles.

Well, it's specced well and very personalised - Azure blue with tan leather, blue piping, blue carpets, glass roof, Futura rims. Azure cars usually come with Magnolia leather - tan in azure is very unusual. Piping on the seats is 50% rare. Blue carpets very rare still. Glass roof is an option, as the cars come with solid roof. V8's come with AWI monobloc wheels, like the yellow one in the above pic. Futura S4s rims are a very expensive option. It would be a huge coincidence for these two to be 2 different cars.

Anyway, since it's a UK car, most likely the liners were fixed under warranty, so at least there is no worry there.

Ok, so either they're the same car or a massive coincidence. :D

Either way, it's a VERY cheap car. If the description is accurate, it's like finding a mint F355 for $80k.

Yeah - doing the sums in my head - you likely couldn't import one for a good deal more than $asking of that/those car(s).

I believe he legally can't sell the car.  This Ebay one has just been imported and as such he has to wait 12 months before selling, otherwise the government can step in and do bad things.

Weird.  He's obviously had the car for a while in the UK.  Comes out here with his PI and sells it straight away for next to nothing.  :scratchchin:

This is strange, the Carpiont Ad has Aussie plates on it in the photos and the eBay Ad has the UK ones????

Why not use those photos for the eBay Ad as well?? Was going to check it out anyway, will let you guys know if I find anything out.

Always keep in mind the liner issue on the early V8s though - all V8s accross the globe got it fixed under warranty. The Aust importer just kept the $ and did not fix the cars. It's an expensive job ($20k or so), but it might never happen on your car. Or hopefully it's already happened and the previous owner fixed it already.

What are the details of this "liner issue"???

Just asking in case this dude has no idea when I ask him about this car being done.

OK, here is the deal so far:

The car on CarPoint and eBay are the same.
The vehicle has been in the country for 5 months, so an import from the UK.
When I asked about the PI details, I got a "blank look"(so to speak).
Seller checking out the rules, as he was not sure about anything to do with the PI.
PI has to be legit as the RTA have rego'ed it, and they would not have unless everything was in order.
Full NSW rego. He says 12 months but not sure how much of the 5 months it has been rego'ed for.

45k miles. Full service/repair history(so I'm told).
Asked about the "Liner issue" - got a "blank look".

Supposed to be in Mint condition(so I'm told).

Waiting on more details.

P.S. I think eBay asking price was $59k neg.

Hylomar (I think it was them) supplied Lotus with the wrong liner sealant for the V8's. The sealant was desintegrating and would let water in.
From mid 2000, the problem was rectified and the correct sealant was used when building the engines. All the V8's built before mid 2000 were re-called and had the problem fixed by the factory (supposed to anyway).
If he is the only owner of the car, surely he would know about the liner issue as he wouldn't have been stupid enough not to let Lotus fix it. It is a $20k-$30k job.
