Hi all from Adelaide
My brother bought a Lotus and now I want one. Have narrowed down the search, looking at two Evoras
1: a 2011 with 30,000km on clock
2: a 2013 with 10,000km ($15k more expensive)
Have heard about the clutch cylinder, cable harness and many other problems with pre 2013 and would rather pay more for a more reliable car
Anyone have experience with second hand Evoras and am I buying trouble?

can't comment on reliability... but from all accounts they are very nice cars. the one thing i do know is they seem to be sale proof. Id pick the one you want and negotiate hard. I doubt there are people queuing up to buy them.

i was looking at a mechanic in texas offering a turbo kit for the n/a models. runs 400rwhp (450engine) and apparently smooth power delivery. the kit is only $5k + instal/tuning

makes for an interesting proposition

I've had a 2011/12 Evora S since new. They are pretty bullet proof at least in my experience.

Those items you mentioned should all have been replaced under warranty. Check the service history and get a list of the recalls and make sure they have been done.

How much are they wanting for the two you are looking at?

Thanks for the reply
2011 35,000km  $82,500
2013 12,000km  $99,000
I think the 2013 has more price negotiating room than the 2011
Did you have any items repaired under warranty with your car?  There have been a lot of horror stories on the forums
Thanks
PK

I take it they are the non-supercharged ones? Where are they? Which state?

Mine has been great. No horror stories. 18,000kms but I got all of the recalls done as should the ones you are looking at.

Supercharged? don't know.  I just want a Lotus!  One is in Vic, another  is being sourced by a dealer and its location not yet disclosed.  I am in Adelaide so may mean a trip over to pick up.  What items were fixed under recall?
Thanks for response

both models you're looking at are non-supercharged. I don't think there are any S models on carsales.

I drive a Mitsubishi Lancer.  A standard Lotus is likely to have enough power!!  One car is in a wholesaler's possession and is not on carsales.  Its price is consistent with a non supercharged model.

For that sort of money you should be getting the supercharged one especially if they're 3 or 4 years old...
