Ryan

Plenty of info on the web.  Where is the one he's looking at ??

Classic timeless Giugiaro styling. The '85 model has a stated time of 0-100 in 5.6s.  To be on the safe side take/find another local Esprit owner.  That could be difficult as there ain't many of us around.  A couple in Adelaide and probably a dozen or so in VIC, NSW and WA.

Get your mate to read Lotus Esprit World a few times + also have a good gander at the Lotus Esprit Forum.  There's a Giugiaro Technical section on the forum + also a general Esprit area to fire questions at.

Reliability increased markedly when GM owned Lotus from around 93 onwards.

These are genuine supercars and as such are not cheap to maintain.  Parts would be the biggest issue for a car of that age, but they are available from O/S.  I could'nt live without my Esprit, wonderful to drive and extraordinarily rare.  He'll be forever driving with a big smile on his face - and that's what it's all about.

You have to admit that the Esprits are kinda cool

As Simon said, go to LEW for info.

I don't know much about the G cars, but I think all the problems for the S3's were sorted by 1984?
There are a few for sale right now, one of them seems to be a spectacular car (the copper one)

Why is he going for that one? It sounds like it needs a full rebuilt.

For only a few grand more he can get this (which seems to be in sensational condition):

Hell no. The gold stuff is factory and that car is identical to the one that was in one of the Bond movies. It has to stay like that!

Tell me about it. I am very tempted, only 'cause it's so cheap and in such great nick. But I wouldn't drive it much if at all, so it would be a waste of a car to be in my garage.
