THE Lotus 2-Eleven will make its Australian debut and officially go on sale at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October.

It's the hottest Lotus yet, but the catch is you can only drive the $127,500 car on the track.

While a road-going version will be available in the UK, Australian buyers will be restricted to the track.

The Lotus arrives as another European track-oriented car, the KTM X-Bow, also hits our shores.

KTM Australia is confident the bike company's first foray into cars will be road registrable, because they are building fewer than 500 units a year. That allows them to import for road registration under a low-production passenger car category which does not require crash tests and ADR69 compliance. Caterham is also able to import cars under this ruling.
