I know that car's entire history in detail. The person that prepped it for its races, and still looks after it now, is a close friend. It still holds the record for the fastest Bathurst lap.
When it first raced, there was no S300 officially for sale in Aust, so Lotus Aust changed the body to make it look like a S4, and that's how it raced for the first year. Then, when the Sport 300 went on sale here the year after, they changed the car back to it's proper S300 body.

BTW, the car is FAR from mint! The current owner (who is being chased by debtors) is a bit of a dill.

BTW, that race car does 440bhp in race form, out of it's 4 cyl engine. Over 500bhp in qualifying. Makes my 361bhp pale in comparison.

Description
This rare Lotus Esprit was one of few built by Lotus Engineering England for the 1993 GT racing season and is possibly the last remaining example.The most famous being the two factory Esprit's entered into Lemans.It features many unique Lotus Engineering racing parts and light weight panels,It is a beautiful car and is in near concourse condition.It is accident free and has had limited documented racing history. The engine,clutch,suspension,were rebuilt in 2002 and have only 1.2 hours use including dyno time.

History
Air freighted to Australia in February 1993 and delivered to the Australian Lotus Importer together with key Lotus Engineering personel the factory backed team won the GT Series with many lap records to there credit including Bathurst.The car has not been raced much since.

cant find any race history, lap record evidence..

but found this while looking... 1994 Bathurst... look how mnay names are still racing competitively...
