Hi guys, im new to the forum and am looking to find some info on the S4 shape Lotus Esprit

I recently sold my Exige weekender as it was just too uncomfortable for my liking. Im thinking about replacing it with a S4 Esprit which ive always loved to shape of. Just wondering if any owners out there can share some thoughts about their ownshership costs/experiences. I don't mind spending the cash on upkeep, but would rather not have the car sitting in a workshop for most of its life.

Also anyone know of any good S4's going for sale at the moment? Would prefer the V8 but would also consider a 4cyl. Or anyone wants to sell me theres? :)

Thanks

Tis the season

7 years of ownership and only one failure (clutch slave cylinder - $20 fix).  Car gets driven every week.

SE onwards had GM reliability.  S4 Esprits are becoming increasingly harder to source.  I've noticed that Esprits are increasing in value in the UK, mainly due to decreasing numbers around the world.

S4S version is the pinnacle of Esprit ownership, but very hard to find.

you'll need to advise your location so the right people can pop their heads up.

General service parts are fairly cheap and easy to source. I was able to get just about everything I needed from Bursons for a major service. Can't really speak for the V8 in this case.

Lotus parts are fairly expensive, mainly body parts but a lot of parts can be cross referenced and purchased a lot cheaper. Just have to know who to ask. :)

My Esprit had been well and truly used and abused. She still needs some work here and there but she was well worth the effort and sometimes pain.
Bang for your bucks is brilliant.

Being in Melbourne, there are some resources there that are invaluable.

Finding one is going to be your next big problem and finding one that doesn't have lots of baggage will be the next.

Mine's always for sale.

But some say the $250k price tag is a little steep.

I say,  it's...

How bad do you want one.  ;)

One simple rule - get a well looked after car, it will provide great joy with no headaches. Get a basket case, like most out there, it will be a money pit to put right.

I own/owned Ferraris, Lambo and 5 road going Esprits. The Esprits have been the more reliable cars BY FAR!
Maintanance costs though are the same as Ferrari/Lambo.
You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot.
