You do realise pretty much every car tears up half its value in the first three years?

There is always a pretty healthy discount on the new price to be had as well. I have had 2 Granturismo's and the resale on both was no worse than any other car that I have owned over the years.
I did 30,000 km's on my second one over 2 years and the depreciation was 35% of the initial OTR cost, and that's real world data points for you.

Pick a car, any car, and then look up the red book value on the net. Depreciation of 50% is par for the course on new cars over the first 3 years. If you look at a range of cars you will see that the depreciation % is surprisingly close give or take a few %.

Have a look at 599's and 612 Ferraris if you want to quote an OMG depreciation rate. In fact most Ferraris are pretty average; but the V12's are in the OMG territory.
