You seem to have got what's called "the double lemon" dealer AND car.

So to summarise from Goober's post....to purchase a QP you'd have to be madder than Mad Jack McMad, the winner of last year's Mr Madman Competition!

Have had 2 new 911's, was never a 911 person, am sold on both counts. The QP was a disaster, and to think the QP is over 100k more than my 911.......I dont understand why anyone would buy one.

Go back a step, had the first Cayenne Turbo, it broke down in the most remote location in Australia.....Morphett st bridge on a Monday morning, the computers died cos my mobile (old Nokia) was in the console and it fried the computer sitting under the console. Tilt tray to Chateau back then, the whole car became locked and it was dragged with all four wheels skidding up the tilt.........Had the car 6 weeks, it spent 4 of those weeks thereabouts in warranty, luckily as it was the one of the first delivered some dealer in sydney wanted it, cost me 6k from what I paid for it and he took it.

was going to get an Aston vantage over the 911.........I chose the 911 thankfully cos I drove the Aston in 36 degree heat....air con was struggling, the 911 just does all the right things.

Completely agree Porsche do make a solid car, but like you I had a first Gen Cayenne Turbo and every now and again the computer would shut down.

I just think it happens a lot more in exotics then every day cars. I remember when I first meet my Mrs she had a Barina and that thing was the definition of a lemon. It was constantly breaking down and no one ever knew why.

the original Barina was the Suzuki swift, great car, then they did the bubble Barina whole J car type approach, build a car from parts sourced all over the world, like engine from Portugal, transmission from Mexico etc.....car was a heap of shit

I must admit, being someone who has monitored discussions on forums all over the world about cars, and having not taken the plunge yet on something exotic (because I can't at present) it appears my love of the 911 is well placed. There is a bit on the Pistonheads forum about the unreliabilities of the early 996 911's but again I think the majority of cars did not have those problems. For me its really focused on a 997 911 or 987 Cayman S...if I don't get either of those two I will just save my money and continue with more affordable products from Renaultsport. I've had my Clio for 10 years and it's had two mechanical issues in that time. Not bad for a supposedly unreliable French car! As for driving engagement and fun, its untouchable at the price. And even those of you who have amazing machines above the $200k mark would do well to drive a Clio 200 or a Megane RS265...I think you would be amazed at how good they are...

Back to the QP...I guess I wanted the QP to be awesome because I love the way the old one looks...but paying $90k and then that again in repairs and fixing shit they didnt get right the first time is not my idea of fun motoring!
