Oops, you are correct ACP.  I didnt realise that both cars had the exact same number plates as well as being of similar colour.

The NZ car has the LM spec engine too!

so how is it that NZ can have legally-registered McLaren P1's yet Australia cannot?  Or did the white one have a permit

The one in Victoria is registered. Must only need some engineering reports or a friend who is a Minister of Transport. It's probably more to do with if someone wants to spend the money.
