fair enough

i havent watched v8 supercar supporting races in years, whatever happened to that race car series where they took road cars and prep'd them for the track - field was full of evo's, wrx's etc - is this gt series an evolution of that?

The original race series you are referring to was called "Nations Cup". It was owned by Ross Palmer of "Palmer tubemills" fame. It was a personal passion that was alledgedly costing him millions to run every year. It was a great series; but he eventually pulled the plug. After a short hiatus there was a new series called "Australian GT".

As an aside, my 355 Challenge was owned and raced by Ross Palmer in Nations Cup. He did one meeting at the F1 GP round in 1997 before he sold it.
My N-GT ran in Nations Cup in the Prancing Horse Racing team. First with Ryan Briscoe at the F1 GP meeting in 2002 and then John Bowe ran it at Clipsal in Adelaide. It was then sold to Veloqx in England where it did British GT and FIA GT series.
