Do we have tsunamis? No

Do we have earthquakes? No

Do we have uranium? Yes

One accident and nuke is poo pooed.

Chernobyl was 25 years ago, now Japan.

Many reactors in the world with no incidents for many years.

On your original points:

Japan was acutely aware of it's potential for earthquakes and Tsunamis and had supposedly built in fail-safes to cope. They didn't work when faced with a 1 in 100 year event and look what happened.

Chernobyl. An aging nuclear reactor in a time when Russia was in economic distress. France has 58 reactors, some of them dating back to the early 1970's. Now Europe is in really deep economic shit. Will those reactors be maintained and replaced at incredible cost as that article suggests??
