OK...so I just test drove a 2005 Boxster manual (not the S, just the base model) and the thing was just magnificent.

Chassis balance, grip, build quality, engine note all excellent.

The car is 7 years old and to be honest it felt and looked brand new.

Speed wise its not going to set the world on fire, but an observation I would offer is that I was able to use ALL of the power on a couple of sections of the freeway and out of a couple of corners near devil's elbow.

I walked away from the car grinning...always a good sign.

However...the car in question is $10k more than an identical vehicle in NSW...only difference is the NSW car has 3,000kms more on the clock. In other words you'd be mad to buy the SA car at the price...

Anyway the wash-up is that the base Boxster is a GREAT car...which makes me think the S is worth waiting/saving for.

But ultimately a convertible isn't really me so...decision is...I'll be waiting until I can get a Cayman S around the 50k range!!!!
