did GP 17 go to same buyer as 17

and how much?

Not sure if both plates went to the same bidder but GP 17 sold for $20,000.

The other 17 related plate [ 1717 ] reached $8,750 at the drop of the hammer. I'd say this was one of the better and more attainable buys of the day, ignoring the rainbow centenary plates.

I reckon the 4 digit plates have done amazingly well since the government stopped selling them for about a grand only a few years ago.

17, GP 17 and 1717 all went to different buyers.

81 went to an Asian gentleman bidding at the back of the room.

Phone bidder got 17.

The general public is a terrible barometer of taste. Trust your own sensibilities.
