Mazda RX7 SP sold for $88k! They were $75k new. I remember looking at them when they were new but I didn't like the navy.

Mazda RX7 SP sold for $88k! They were $75k new. I remember looking at them when they were new but I didn't like the navy.

Thay were $107k new and this example was probably the best of the best left today.
My initial comment was on the heritage plates though.

I remember Brighton Mazda trying to sell me one in the late '90s for $75k.

That would have been a standard FD. The SP's were 25 cars that were built as specials for racing and would have sold out very quickly.

I know. It was an SP. High wing, whatever the racing drivers name was. Brand new, sitting in the showroom. I just didn't like the navy.

You are thinking of the standard road car then. The SP was a racer from 1995, very short low volume local run at $107k.
