Good morning all.

Thanks for the interest, things have been quite busy on a number of fronts.

The info is all coming together nicely, but thanks to the geniuses at a certain "small puddle" ISP we had a hitch, setting me back.

So, still a few weeks off and I keep finding more info/material to add.

I have acquired some nice plates recently, though.

In addition, here are some c.1925 original SA plates that I also came across recently, in my favourite historic plate font and design, the original enamel or alloy raised numeral type plate manufacture. Quite rare these days.

Thanks again, I appreciate the interest, ya al' will be the first to hear of completion.

Cheers

I have that style at home. The numbers are riveted on.

Yours are in much better condition though.

Evening all

FYI there were some plates added today to the local internet auction guys. These are from a private collection, the owner of whom I've spoken with.

Note:

Single digit historic plates: 9 potential plates
Two digit historic plates: 90 potential plates
Triple digit historic plates: 900 potential plates
Four digit historic plates: 9 000 potential plates
Five digit historic plates: 90 000 potential plates
Six digit historic plates: 900 000 potential plates

Of course not all of these "potentials" have been issued; I'm researching this and plan to have some base info on the numbers of proprietary plates issued on the site once it's up.

Regards to all

Stew.

Yes, some kind of register of interesting plates would be good.  It needs to enable some privacy but it would be good for the owners of high value plates if intending purchasers could make contact through the register and make Stewart some money along the way as deals get done.

I use/make various data-store thingies (resource control/scheduling/registries/etc) and was thinking about adding one here but pondered the reaction.  As it is we mostly just post the different plates/cars we spot, but if I plugged in a registry where it became a searchable database would it raise concerns?

Similar things were done with like those dob-a-hoon sites etc, I saw the merit, but thought they were poorly implemented.

Owner info probably needs to be kept confidentially by a third party like Stewart and he can negotiate the deal without the buyer and seller meeting each other.  Bit like a recruitment agency really.. :p

Hi Stewart. Just a quick touch of base to see how it's all going?

Hi Stewart. Just a quick touch of base to see how it's all going?

The site launch appears to have stalled.
