These things look like a heap of fun.  I was at a park today in Melbourne and this guy rocks up with one.  He puts head gear on and flys it.  It obviously has cameras.

He flew it at least 500m away and in behind trees.  Absolutely amazing.  I was waiting for it to crash into the lake but he didn't.  Hovered down to about 2 meters from the surface.  This was when it was out of his sight.

Are any of you guys doing this simulator type flight.

This is the only photo I could get but you can just see the headgear complete with antenna.

FPV!!!!

always wanted to try it but as usual, time is the limiting factor

Yes, both copters and fixed wings.
In some ways easier than flying a model the traditional way. Lots of fun till you get a blank screen. Not so bad with return to home auto pilots now.

Awesome Jon.  They look like so much fun. :)  (Except for that blank screen, that sounds scary)

I'll put together a mini racing quad with FPV gear on it at some point in the future. Probably when I'm done with the current one. It looks like  great fun.

Can you post a video when you do it.  I was really impressed with this thing today.

More than happy to but can't pretend it will be in the very near future.

This is the sort of flying the pro's can do with one:

And the sort of rig being flown (GoPro would normally sit on top)

That's a lot of GoPro's there Joel.  I take it your friend is in Europe based on the power points.  Plenty of those too. :)
