I just thought I'd share a recent drama at my house that may save someone else here.  Basically a couple of weeks ago my little bloke comes into our room at 7am and says "why is there water on the floor"!!!!!

To cut a long story short, a hose in one of my bathrooms I had rebuilt 6 years ago burst flooding upstairs and causing the ceilings to collapse downstairs.  Fortunately it didn't collapse on the Ferrari.

Anyways, apparently according to the insurance guy it's becoming quite common.  So I'd recommend you check all the hoses that connect your taps in the bathroom and on the toilet.  If there is any sign of rust, replace them.  They are only $5.50 from your local hardware store.

So far the insurance company has been fantastic with everything.  The incident happened early on a Sunday morning and by lunchtime they'd had someone out to clean up and start drying the place. The repairs should start next week.

I'll try and attach a few photos of the hose and damage.

I also heard that you should turn off the taps to your washing machine when not in use because the hoses can burst and if you're out ...well you can imagine.

Had something similar with a washing machine hose....always turn the water taps off when the machine is finished!

Glad to hear your all ok and  old yellow was undamaged!

Yes, and once a little corrosion sets in there's no support for the rubber lining resulting in the above.

That is my great home fear ,the 2nd floor hot water system rusts out and floods downstairs.
