Very bad in Victoria, about half the fishery is closed down due to the virus. There are whispers that it has reached the SA border.
Naturally, hoping it doesn't find it's way down here. Unfortunately, the Vic Govt has been hopeless at dealing with it.

The virus got to Vic in 2005. The virus has been prevalent in Taiwan. Most likely or almost certain cause was artificial abalone feed that was bought from Taiwan by an abalone farm in Vic. The feed is supossed to be treated prior to export to ensure it doesn't contain and bugs. The Vic abalone association took the Vic Govt to court to sue for negligence/mismanagement. Vic Govt has gone to ground over it and is naturally not a "friendly " party. I think the Vic association wasn't politically or generally astute which has made the problem worse. The State association here is not much better...bunch of boys sent on mens' errands.
