Nixon's licence revoked for two yearsDisgraced player agent Ricky Nixon has had his licence revoked for a minimum of two years by the AFL Players Association's agent accreditation board. An investigation ordered by the Association found Nixon had brought himself into disrepute over his dealings with a 17-year-old girl at the centre of the St Kilda nude photo scandal. The Association says Nixon breached regulations by becoming involved with the teenager."Ricky Nixon has been an AFL player agent for over 15 years," Association chariman Ian Prendergast said."He has been an innovator in the industry and has contributed much to the promotion of player rights and interests throughout this time."However the Board has found today that Ricky has in recent times made serious errors of judgment which warrant a serious response."Nixon has been barred from applying for a player-manager licence for a minimum of two years.Nixon's lawyers say the penalty is excessive and does not take into account his contribution to the AFL."(Nixon) is not surprised but is greatly disappointed by the decision as he believes the board's process and investigation of this matter has been completely flawed," Nixon's legal team said in a statement."Mr Nixon is presently consulting his advisors in relation to any appeal that may be made."Our client is of the view that he has always acted in the best interests of the players he represents and has done so to the best of his abilities."Nixon has two weeks to lodge an appeal.AFL chief executive Andrew Demetriou said the league accepted the board's finding."The AFL has said from the outset that this is a very serious matter and Mr Nixon's actions were inappropriate and totally unacceptable," he said."The most important thing in all of this is the welfare of the young girl involved."From the moment she first came to our attention in May last year, we have offered her support and assistance and that offer remains should she wish to accept it."
