My Bendigo Bank Red Visa has never let me down.

Out here in the sticks an Amex card is next to useless.....

Hit up ANZ's facebook pages with the experience - there's a team there doing nothing but responding to issues ... great way to vent and jump the queue  :)

Can just imagine all the responses from people giving their 2c

Amazing people's perception when they see a black card

I've had this one since... forever.

1.Visa
2.Amex
3.Cashola
4.Travel card
5.Applied for a 28 degree card.
Any other ideas^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

All you need it the Visa you use every day if it is linked to a savings account. Then you buy can stuff on Visa and get cash from ATMs. I take Amex for points and as a back up but I don't see the need for any fancy additional cards.

Pre-auths won't be a problem if you have a decent limit - or funds in the linked savings account.

if you are withdrawing from your own account - most of the travelcards, visas linked to ur account all charge fees for ATM useage - the 28 degrees GE Mastercard is the only one that I have not been stung thus far.

We are away atm what we have found local currency (cash) works we for small purchases, Visa debit card (linked to savings) for everything else accept per-auths at hotels we use a dedicated credit card then pay with our Visa debit.
Sounds weird really I don't have a problem with using our Visa debit for pre-auths as you have to pay for the room anyway.

28degreescard.com.au is their site, apply online

If you're self employed, apply online, get call back, return call, send document by fax, get call back, repeat, repeat, repeat....might get card before holiday 8-(
