So this sites user base is obviously full of successful people, who have worked hard and sacraficed alot to get to where they are today.

What is the best advice in business/life that you have been given that helped you succeed to get to where you are today and how has it helped you?

Mine would have to be - 'If you want to be successful, surround yourself with successful people'.

this only applies in a modern corporate environment, with lots of levels of management and policy and procedures which if you follow to the letter results in huge costs and delays and nothing getting done

Don't do anything you can't put your head down and go to sleep with at night, and don't risk what you have for what you don't need.

Get educated, stay positive and get some advice, focus on the goal and take action, work hard. Read books and biographies, I read many but  Frank Lowy's biography"Pushing the Limits" stands out, read it twice and recommend it to everyone
