He seems to have gone to ground.

Amazing considering how vocal he was a few months ago...

Very true.
Adelaide will be a draw. Aussies will win in Perth.
So, it will be 2-0 going into Melbourne, with the Poms needing to win both of the last two tests to hold on to The Ashes.
Interesting stuff.

England suddenly look a little bit more vulnerable without Trott now .... Opens up the series big time

Obviously tough circumstances for him, I wish him all the best, but gee it helps the Aussies.

If Root goes to 3, their top six will be:  Cook, Carberry, Root, Pietersen, Bell and (most likely) Bairstow

I don't really follow it, but the media is making it sound very bitter and nasty. Is the whole thing as bad as they're making out, or is it a storm in a tea cup?

I find it very interesting what is going on now.
The sledging is no worse than in any other series. In fact latest report is that Anderson started the exchange by threatening to "punch (George Bailey) in the face".
Clarke retaliated by saying that Anderson should prepare to "have his fucking arm broken".
Perfectly fine in my view, on both counts.
But the Ch. 9 stump mike happened to broadcast Clarke's comments.
I don't believe that was an accident by Ch. 9 by the way. Controversy = ratings.

But, the interesting part is the English tactics now.
Cricket fans will remember the series 6 or 7 years ago where we were playing India.
We won the first Test easily but India came out and accused us of unsportsmanlike play and terrible sledging etc.
In a pathetic, embarrassing and cringeworthily PC display the Australian Cricket Board capitulated to the very rich Indian board and from that point on our team went into their shells.
India went on to win the series.

I'm quite sure the Poms are trying to do the same thing.

an on field all in brawl with someone knocked out and then urinated on by the victor, followed by the recalling of the English ambassador, cancellation of the tour and resignation of the governor general might make it interesting enough for me to pay attention

Adelaide test could be more interesting than a draw. The whole ground has been torn up, bull dozed and re-laid.
