some friends of ours bought a "cavoodle" about 4 months ago... cavalier poodle cross...

Anyway, that was about $800

plus micro chips and vaccinations etc etc... $1200

last week they were all in their car in the drive and they ran over the dog... the kids were all terribly upset of course, and the dog got a busted pelvis.

off to emerg dog clinic... x rays, shots, repairs and casts etc etc... all emerg stuff... $3k, thanks.

then off to proper vets later, who said the $$ x rays taken previosuly were no good, so did them all again, and then a $5k operation on top!!!!

They now have a $10,000 dog with a limp for life.

Some insurance policies will cover vet bills (to a certain amount) if your animal is injured on / in front of your property.
