The domain name was half the reason the agents signed up in the first place.

Simon Baker was a News Ltd person and knows how to run a business, unlike Fairfax.

He never realised the power of the domain name he had was doing a lot of the work, I've met him a few times, nice guy, made his fortune from a generic domain name, maybe even he will admit that now.

P/S Baker was sacked.
Baker really did lead that business very well. I followed what REA was doing quite closely. His now got Classified Ad Ventures which is doing a whole range of things, but the main one that I like to keep on top of is Property Portal Watch. Traded a few emails with him earlier this year to get his thoughts on a few ideas that I have, and he was a great help!

REA's Local Voices has got the potential to be big IMO, but for now there is just something that isn't getting done right IMO.

Back onto the topic of the importance of the URL, could go either way. For example, in my portfolio i have got 48 domain names, that all have a company related word and then a phrase that people are going to search for. Will these help in anyway? Who knows. I just think it is good company branding.

Just need to find the time/resources to do it!  :tired:

@Ash, I think its time to separate this thread too btw  :D

Trying to figure out how to get a notification/listing when someone "likes" something on AE is doing my head in - has anyone dealt with this stuff before?

Well I guess on the AE FB page would be handy, just to keep a running track of "such and such liked this page".

AE is now getting a fair few referrals from FB, but because of their structure it's impossible to know where/who they're coming from.

Unfortunately it can't be done. I prefer Twitter in the sense that you can just click the counter and it will bring up a page full of the people that tweeted the link.

Ok Facepalmbook users, how do I stop someone from showing up in my feed without "defriending" them?

I haven't used fb for years, and now I remember why - the same few people continually post stuff about how happy they are and then how sad they are.

Sadly they're actually good friends, I just don't want to hear about their day to day dramas, so how do I fix that?
