The local Italian (Di Palmas) charges $9 a bottle corkage......is that standard ???
I used to work at DiPalmas in '93-'94. John DiPalma and the boys used to come and cheer me on at competitions.
You make something idiotproof, they'll make a better idiot.

We were charged $35 a bottle in Sydney a few weeks back
Corckage for the BYO at our table was $350 alone.

Cocos is shite and never been that good.....

Consider Matilda bay as is always consistent and has a great view over the river back to the city...around sunset you will probably see the dolphins swimming out the front.....

Jacksons in highgate perhaps....balthazar is good but not hugely romantic...

I agree with theintelligent1.  For me, Coco's is very tired a past it.  It needs a revamp as I think it's trading on the goodwill of bygone days.

I love balthazar, service and food there was great.  The only problem is parking if one intends to drive.
The Gala in Applecross is also good.

It's a good setup, I'm a regular there.

$35pp is too excessive, how much were the bottles on their wine list out of interest?

They charged me a very reasonable $54 for a bottle of Cloudy Bay,

Fergs Lobster Cave in Beaumaris charged $90 per bottle and we both had gastro, steer well clear of that place.
