They've really upped their game..

My little Getz needed a service, so I used the opportunity to test out the new i30... turbo diesel... it's really nice and very well put together.

it won car of the year convincingly

that said, I couldn't get the seat quite right for me, and the gear change felt rubbery.

But the engine was a gem... very very quiet (like, is it started yet?) and pulls hard with loads of torque...

They also now have a nice van... the i Load... with a turbo diesel that has 392NM or torque.. which is about 20 more than a Ferrari 360! (it only weighs 2000kg too... )

although... driving around in an i load turbo or "blown load" is kinda hard to contemplate...

I'm with you, I think Hyundai will change a lot of people's perspective in the next 5-10 years

They're where Toyota was in the early 80s.

Good cars are coming out for very little cash.

They will go/are going from being "that cheap company" to a viable option for many, many people.

Have I missed something in my past brief visits? Since when did a Hyundai become an exotic?? :-)

Well I'm sad to say I've done probably 3 times as many miles in a Hoondie than Italian cars, and without a single problem - ever.  Whereas my record for break-downs-per-mile in Italian cars is absolutely pitiful. :?

Guess what cars I've had much more fun in though... ;)

they charged me $220 for a 15000km service...

listing thinkgs like "inspect battery cables and terminal"..

yet when I looked myself, my fingers left prints in the dust that was there....

and there were no others...

hmmmmm

they greased the seats nicely though...

thanks for that!

the i30 diesel is a great little car, i was surprised at the engines "performance" for its size, compared to some of the bigger diesel's on the market. One of the more quiet diesel's on the market (not bad as it the cheapest)

- and yes i used to work for hyundai  :?

Nice move, but now you need the sticker. "I'd rather push an exotic than drive a Hyundai"
