If you have the right kind of car (exotic or fast Euro) , now is the time to put your hand up.

We now have several confirmed cars and the departure date is *soon*.

If anyone is still lurking but doesn't have access to the private forum yet, this trip will leave Adelaide on a Friday and return on a Monday.  Overnight stays at Coober Pedy, Yulara (Sails in the Desert) and CP again.

The road is excellent bitumen the whole way.

PM me for details.

I'm a bit tempted to head to Uluru next week to climb the Rock before it is banned.  2 days there and 2 days back, stopping at Coober Pedy both ways.  Leave Sunday and get back Wednesday night.  Any takers from Adelaide for an adventure?

whats this about banning??

THE Northern Territory Labor government and the federal opposition are furious with a federal plan to close the climb to the top of Uluru, saying Peter Garrett is slamming the gate on a world famous tourism experience.

Park management says it is common for people to climb Uluru and use it as a toilet. E coli levels in waterholes around the base of the rock sometimes reach levels that make them unsafe for humans or animals to drink.

thanks ash, i wasn't aware of it

but why the rush??

Parks Australia expects people will be able to continue to climb for probably two more years while the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park draft management plan is formalised, tabled and the tourism industry consulted.

My arm could be twisted... this miserable Adelaide weather isn't going down so well at the moment!
