Didn't touch NG though I see..............   :p

NG is a harder call. Too many swinging voters there.

I've got a fund balance well over the $1.6m. Is there any point in additional contributions?

+ 1

My view is that there no point whatsoever.

They have been picking at this scab for ages but it does look like they have decided super is a pain-free way to start to work over the wealthy as they must to meet the unavoidable demographically-based future budget outflows.

That's it. I'm moving to New Zealand with my little mate Brettski

Watching the ABC now, Morrison is much more poised and across the detail than Hockey ever was, I'll give him that.

Good point, even if it is not entirely correct as there is one instance where they CAN get at it.
When you are in the retirement phase and drawing a pension income stream from the SMSF, your creditors can get to that. This is why you need to make sure your trust deed allows the trustee (normally you) to stop or minimise the amount paid out.

Going forward, it looks like we might as well get used to the smell of Vaseline.
