I'm in Wellington next weekend! Might have to drop him a line too.

Not sure that he could handle two AE members in one week

I'll try and be brief but give you some ideas.

Firstly, being based in Auckland you can head North or South.

North,

As you are taking kids, first stop, Waiwera Pools  http://www.waiwera.co.nz  (About an hour and a half)  Of course there is plenty of stuff to do in Auckland, definitely do a day trip to Waiheki Island or Rangitko Island.

Then keep heading north and you'll come across my retirement dream area I've referred to before in a 50ft boat, Bay of Islands.

Go on a cruise and see dolphins then on to the hole in the rock and see Cape Brett ( :p )  Head over to Russell for fresh oysters.  Keep heading North to the tip of the Island.  This is a day trip by bus that I recommend.  Its comes back down the east coast via 90 mile beach.

South.

I'd strongly recommend heading towards Rotorua (This is where the mud pools are and smells of sulphur. )  Very famous and historic part of NZ and a lot of Maori history.

Plenty of small towns you can stop by on the way.

From here I'd shoot over to Taupo which is only an hour away.  Trout fishing is huge here.  Plus they have a Pawn farm which lives off warm water from thermo power plants.

Also one of the best jet boat trips. (Next to the pawn farm)

If you're going soon you're approaching the Ski season so that is another thing you can do.  The Luge is a heap of fun and of course they don't have Ambulance Chaser Lawyers in NZ so you can also hire Quad bikes here as well .  That is a heap of fun Chasing Sheep. :D

From Taupo, can head to Waitomo Caves.  Kids will love this with the glow worms.  Can also do black water rafting.

I reckon with sport and 9 days that might be a good enough start.  Enjoy.

Kiora Bro and don't forget your Jandals. :D

No probs Bro (Get used to the Bro, Bro :) )

I forgot Kelly Tarltons in Auckland which is only a few k's from the city.  Really nice part of Auckland.  Can do Mini Golf as well.

This guy was the pioneer.  Set up in an old sewer pond and from memory was the first to start the Aquarium with moving platforms and fish swimming overhead.
