A THICK haze caused by a dust storm in South Australia two days ago has blanketed Brisbane this morning.

Thousands of tonnes of topsoil from SA's north are being blown across southern Queensland by "vigorous" westerly winds.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Ben Annells said the dust haze descended upon parts of western Queensland yesterday and would continue in the south-east corner for most of today.

The dust was affecting visibility to varying degrees across southern Queensland.

"Visibility's down to about seven or eight kilometres locally but it's much worse in Toowoomba, around three kilometres. That could affect smaller aviation operations," Mr Annells said.
