Have managed to reverse out of my garage and done serious damage three times. Took a slice out of a rear panel firstly. Cracked a side mirror secondly. And finally tore the drivers side mirror right out of the door. Expensive lesson. Moral of the story, don't talk on the mobile phone when reversing out of ones garage. Oh and I better learn how to drive better :(

So that is why your old car looked a little worse for ware... I mentioned it on here and/or to the Sydney dealer selling it that it looked a little rough... Dealer didn't care, he was bragging how he got it cheap as chips apparently? Or was the dealer bignoting his buying power?

Car is meant to have sold by now so you can say what you like now lol
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

Who told you that? Doesn't sound right...

I'm fairly sure the british highway code says you must not reverse from any road that is minor to major.

ie, always reverse INTO the minor road, whatever it might be, if you cannot turn round before re-entering the major road.

I prefer the states here where you reverese INTO angle parking too, rather than drive in/reverse out.

from highway code

Reversing

200
Choose an appropriate place to manoeuvre. If you need to turn your vehicle around, wait until you find a safe place. Try not to reverse or turn round in a busy road; find a quiet side road or drive round a block of side streets.

201
Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can.

202
Look carefully before you start reversing. You should

•use all your mirrors
•check the ‘blind spot’ behind you (the part of the road you cannot see easily in the mirrors)
•check there are no pedestrians (particularly children), cyclists, other road users or obstructions in the road behind you

 Reverse slowly while

•checking all around
•looking mainly through the rear window
•being aware that the front of your vehicle will swing out as you turn
Get someone to guide you if you cannot see clearly.

203
You MUST NOT reverse your vehicle further than necessary.

The information you have posted serves no purpose or benefit to the dealer, the new owner or the former owner. Seems the only one 'bignoting' himself is you.

Moving right along.....

reversing cameras are just another safety aid, not to be used in isolation but a fifth element to look at: left and right side mirrors, rearview mirror, over the shoulder, and camera

Just like ABS, proximity radar, pretension seat belts air bags -  they are there for our safety
