I'm sad to report that Rob Black has died. Adelaide enthusiasts will have known Rob (or known of him) as one of the first McLaren owners in SA and a man who, when faced with news of ill health, cranked it up a notch.  He was in any motorsport event he could find and drove like there was no tomorrow. He will be missed on the Adelaide car scene. :(

That is sad, never knew the bloke but heard stories about him

Certainly did the best he could do to enjoy the time he had left

He was a really nice bloke on the couple of times I  ran into him at events.

I remember a driver briefing where we were all lectured about not being late and needing to be there to sign in otherewise we would not be driving that day.
They did the roll call and got about 3/4 of the way through and came to Rob, well Rob was not there.... then someone from out the back yells out "he is on his way just slightly delayed".
The guy that had just given the entire field a massive lecture about this exact thing replies with "no worries I will sort him seperately when he arrives" what a massive back flip

I took that as a massive sign of respect for Rob.

If I was late I would not have been driving and would have lost me entrance fee  :gnasher:

Sad news. He was a top bloke in my books. Had numerous chats about cars and even about his business life. I bought my 997 Turbo from him. RIP Rob..

RIP Rob, he gave it all he had.

Gotta have as much fun as you can when youre here, not wait until the end.

My old step dad had a heart attack in front of me Monday morning, he's 82 but he certainly didnt want to go.. He's doing well in hospital and will be out around Friday.. He still has plans for things to do, so do all that you want while you can guys.
