There was a strange noise last night. A kind of double "BOOM BOOM" noise from outside, around 10.30pm. The first boom was perhaps slightly louder than the second. Both booms were all over and done within half a second, maybe less.

I thought it was fairly close by, a house maybe half a km away or something. certainly not right next door or even the next house which is around a corner.

But all the wives/friends have been asking about it today and no-body knows what it was. We all heard it, for an area around a km or so from our houses. We all thought it came from different places.

Anyway, the master of all knowledge and the father of half the kids around here, the postie, reckons it was a sonic boom.

But perhaps it was sub-terranean???

So, my question is... What does a sonic boom sound like, and don't you normally hear the general plane jet engine noise at the same time?

There is a double boom but it's a big no no for the RAAF to do that anywhere near the public, it's probably subterranean gas, sell up quick.

On second thought not too sure about that sound barrier rule I guess it could have been that some distance away, a call to the RAAF would clear it up.

My brothers twitter was used by channel 9 on election night, I was watching the election and I was like "WTF?????"
You can say I'm wrong, but my garage doesn't agree with that statement!!!

meteorite is my bet

Could be, a call to the RAAF will confirm if there was aircraft activity in the area.

Sonic boom occurred over Mt Gravatt once, and caused an earth tremor.
Interesting!

Maybe there was an outdoor comedy festival on nearby and someone told a really corny joke and 3000 people said "boom boom"  all at once.
