I'd rather skip NYE altogether these days but the missus wants to see in the new year with friends in Kirribilli which means a 7 hour commitment due to bridge closures. Sydneysiders, how could I get home to Circular Quay at say 10pm? I'm thinking a wide arc to a more westerly bridge in an Uber might do it - not Anzac as that will be closed. Thoughts and ideas?

Water taxi? Is the tunnel closed that would be the best option

You could take the tunnel, there isn't another bridge apart from the Anzac.

The issue might be if areas of Circular Quay are closed off due to the fireworks.  I imagine there will be a lot of people out and about as always.

Get an uber and get him to drop you off at the Domain tunnel and you will have to walk to circular quay from there as everything around there is closed.

I think the harbour tunnel is closed. What about Iron Cove bridge?

Iron cove bridge is further out, you'd still need to cross Anzac Bridge to get into the city or go the long way around through annandale/newtown.

The tunnel should be open, it always has been from memory.  The issue you are going to have is actually Circular Quay and the road closures which are likely to be during the day (i.e. NYE).

So you're dropping the missus off then going home to Circular Quay yourself?

C'mon, do it!
