If anyone's wondering why PA hasn't checked in it's cos he's banned.





At least until he leaves Egypt! 

He's been trying to log in but I banned basically the whole country by IP range for frequent spamming a couple months ago - I'd lift it to let him in but I checked the stats and it's stopped over 3,000 attempted logins from there - most of which I can only assume would be bots/spammers.

I just called Pete. He sounded pretty pissed off. Reckons he's tried to log on more than 3,000 times. He said he's over the pyramids and is missing us badly.

Torrens footbridge has no name yet - but Adelaide City Council is thinking about it

TWO days out from its opening, a new footbridge over the River Torrens has no name despite more than 100 suggestions from a council-run public competition.

Adelaide City Council documents show suggestions include The Marjorie Jackson-Nelson Pissant Panda Backwater Footbridge over Troubled Waters, the Andy Thomas Bridge, the Wang Wang Funicular and Atchison's Arch, in honour of the late Advertiser cartoonist Michael Atchison.

Competition entrant David Baker suggested naming it the David Baker Bridge, telling the council in a submission that "I've always wanted something named after me".

In a statement, the council said it "would like to thank" members of the public who submitted a suggestion for the name of the new bridge.

"Suggestions have been put to council and a decision on the name of the bridge will be made very soon," it reads.

"In the meantime, the bridge will be opened for the many people of Adelaide and beyond to explore the city's parklands."

The $1 million bridge connects North Adelaide with the Adelaide Zoo and the Botanic Gardens and the opening will mark completion of Stage Five of the Adelaide Park Lands Trail.

Lord Mayor Michael Harbison and Urban Development and Planning Minister Paul Holloway will attend the ceremony.

Mr Harbison said the bridge would encourage more activity in the "family-friendly" area.

"The footbridge is great for exercisers, workers and even school children who want a safe and peaceful route to and from the city," he said.

"The bridge makes it extremely accessible to see some of the city's major attractions."

Mr Holloway said he was looking forward to officially opening the bridge.

The State Government had contributed more than $1.5 million to development of the Park Lands Trail.

"The opening of the footbridge marks the completion of a very important step in the development," Mr Holloway said.

"We support developments like the trail that continue to reinvigorate the City of Adelaide."
