It is meant to last much longer than normal air in a tire.Apparently the molecules are bigger and they find it harder to make their way out of the tyre, pressure stays more constant.

Well, tyres should have holes just big enough to let out all those 22% of smaller molecules - there, now we ALL have nitrogen filled tyres.

A 9 cubic meter nitrogen bottle costs about $120

You could fill maybe 40 road car tyres from it.

We use it on the race cars, but I really can't see the point on road cars.

Nitrogen is more stable than plain air.

In racing, it means you get less pressure variation with heat build up.

On the road in average family style cars, it's just bull shit. Maybe your tyres can go ~ 3 months between pressure checks, rather than 2... big deal.

Nitrogen air is also used in Nissan GT-R

My brother rented a Hyundai i35 months ago it was running on normal air ..... Good car tho

on low profile tyres it can help a bit more...

big wheels with low profile tyres means the actual volume of air inside is quite low, and any variation of temperature has a greater effect on pressure... so using Nitrogen reduces the over inflation problem with heat, and also the cold drop off.

Natural tyre and wheel porosity is also a factor... the slow bleed off of molecules is reduced with larger nitrogen molecules.

I had someone say to me that they put Nitrous in their tyres. I said "Nitrous Oxide?" he said yes  And yes they were fully sick hektik guys.
