Does anyone have a point of view on the xero accounting package.

Seems alot more user friendly than MYOB and seems to integrate with lots of 3rd party software.

$50/month seems a bit steep, but it may be worth it...

You might also want to look at Quickbooks, that what we use and have found it much more user friendly than MYOB.

$50 a month isn't far off MYOB considering you need to upgrade it almost every year. i know a few people who use CashFlow Plus and seem to like it.

I would get Dynamics NAV though.

Cost effective too by the look of things...

I had a chat with our office cleaners a few months ago who switched to xero from MYOB, and they rave about it.  I'm not 100% sure about trusting an external provider with our accounting data but the features seem quite impressive and it would be great to be able to run reports and see daily takings from my iPhone without needing to connect to our VPN, fire up a VNC client and launch MYOB that way.

I'm planning on taking a good look over the Christmas break, as MYOB is really giving me the shits these days so it won't take much to switch to something better.

I've been playing with xero for a few days and its seriously very good, however where I can get away with the entry level version of QuickBooks Online, I need the middle rung of xero for my business.  And it's more than 3 times the price.

QuickBooks seems to use a mobile site for on-the-road access, and xero has an iPhone app that can scan receipts, etc etc.

The problem with MYOB is that if you use payroll you have to upgrade every year to get the latest Tax Tables....so it's $550 odd a year which is the same as Xero...I also know someone that is using Xero and LOVES it. Daily sales are automatically entered from his till etc....I still prefer MYOB at this stage as I am comfortable with it.

I have an external company do my payroll, It has payed for itself on numerous occasions during disputes when I calm the angry staff member and tell them that it is not me that works out their pays.
It is very nice being arms length away as peoples pays are emotional topics.

I don't recall what it costs (small and irrelivantish) me but not having to keep up with constant changes with payroll is lovely.

I also don't have to keep updating MYOB
