I went to the Taipei zoo yesterday for $2, better than any Australian zoo built on the side of a mountain with huge enclosures
they have giant pandas, both kinds of elephants etc. And the place was all but deserted.

Then you take a gondola (cable car) up the mountain for another $2, its a 40 minute ride and spectacular, had a car to myself, no queues

Get off at the top and theres awesome paths around the mountains overlooking the cities etc. I climbed up a great path to the top for over an hour without ever seeing another person, it was wonderful

not sure why we are talking about zoos in the musicals thread, but there you go

In central Vic ? I heard it's the price of a Gin and Tonic ;)

went there 20 years ago.... i would think its changed a bit since then though...
i remember them walking the elephants down the foot path...

Although I've been to many zoos, I don't make a bee line for them when travelling.... I'm trying to experience the "proper' country, not, as is often the case, a sampling of others.

But if time permits, then yes, a Zoo is good.

I had a great Orang utang experience in Borneo, a semi wild one.

I'll be going there in June and have heard it's pretty good.
Spent the day there once. Great day out remember it like it was yesterday...25 years ago. Excellent Zoo.
