None really, my life would be just the same regardless. Once you have enough money to do what you want within reason, more doesn't mean a lot.

Scott, you keep going on about the bubble bursting, but looking at the figures you mention it seems each successive bubble is larger than the last.

It is all in the timing. All the buy prices on the above cars were pretty much bottom of the market and the current prices are at the peak of the biggest asset price bubble in history. It massively exaggerates the picture.

If I had said that my old man paid $105k for the 275 GTB/4 ten years before I sold it for $425k you would have an entirely different view :)

I suspect that the values of the cars mentioned in Scott's post would be largely immune from the bubble bursting. They're all blue chip collectibles. The stuff that's gunna get smashed will be the Dinos, early 911s, 190SLs, etc. in other words, the (relatively speaking) mass produced second tier stuff.  250LMs, McLaren F1s etc are rare and precious cars.

Quite true. They ebb and flow a little with economic times; but the trajectory over extended periods is always up.
When the crash/correction eventually comes the production cars with no competition history will be smashed to smithereens. They will then take 20 to 30 years to recover.
