Hey all,
New to the forum. Great community from what I've read so far.

I am on the market to buy my first Porsche. Something along the lines of a Carrera 996 . Now I have done heaps of research, but I was wondering if anyone  had any general tips to look out for when buying one of these.

Thanks to all.

Welcome.  At the risk of sending you on your way as soon as you get here, you'll find more info on Porsches at specialist sites.  I'm sure someone here will be along to help shortly.  In the meantime, you might find this handy if you haven't already seen it.

if you haven't already bought a 996, go to any of the forums on these websites http://www.pistonheads.com  http://www.tipec.net/ www.911uk.com.

they are all england based but are an unbelieveable source of knowledge.

if you ever move here, there are lots of independent porsche specialists to buy your car from. a 2006 997 C2S will cost you about $80000 and they're still dropping. a good 2002 996 will cost you about $50000.

but why would you move here with our cold winters and mediocre summer.

incidently i'm moving to austalia next year (wife is from sydney), which in someways is fairly depressing giving the speed laws and price of exotic cars, but on the other hand, you have nice weather with lots of blue skies. i'm close to be able to buy a 997 or was thinking of getting an aston martin vantage but that's all just dreams now i'm moving to OZ.
