i guess it all comes down to personal preference,  i personally would get the older car if it were as a track pig anyway.

also with the .2 a lot  of people dislike the centrelock's for track wheel options etc, then end up having to change them out for a 5 stud conversion.  not big $$$ to convert in the scheme of things, but just another consideration.

What is this?

The only time I used more than 25% of my brakes the car felt like it nearly flipped.

That video Alvin had of M308s car on the racetrack you can see his doing the same, but cliffs, if you brake hard / ABS engaged, the lights will flash to alert other drivers they will soon crash into the back of you.

The porsche was similar to that but the lights were flashing independently of each other and dancing around a lot more.

I'm sure I read somewhere that all recent BMW's and Mercedes do this. My 1M used to do it. Most likely others do it as well.

What about a 997.1 GT3 RS for 997.2 GT3 money? Will probably have held more of its value when time comes to sell too.

I'm pretty sure my Volkswagen does it, too. Either that or flashes the hazard lights.

997.1 GT3 RS sellers want $220k, but for $270k I can get a late 997.2 GT3 RS. I thought about it but the appeal is not there.

my 2 cents - for $50-60k savings I'd get the 997.1 esp if ur intentions are to track it! You could do some serious mods for $50k if you decided to go faster!!

Depends though if you prefer the series 2 LEDs etc that much - personally don't think there's going to be that much performance advantage!

You stopped tracking the turbo due to running costs.
the 50-60K saving on the Mk1 gives you alot of $$$ to spend on rubber / disks / pads
you then get to run the mk1 and not care about the running cost as you are 50-60 infront

are you going to have a bigger woody because the digital read out your lap timer is 1:15 compared to 1:16

the not carring feeling would be what I would be chassing

Go with the GT3 RS or it will end up along the lines of 530i (GT3 .1) -> 550i (GT3 .2) ->M5 (GT3 RS .1 or .2) otherwise you will burn more than 50k in stamps and changeovers getting what you really really wanted in the first place.
