There's a problem with too much downforce on a road car. The last thing you want at 200kph is 1000kg of downforce conpressing your suspension to its limits. It's ok on the track where you have rock hard suspension, but no good on a road car.

Makes sense. I think they are cool and would buy one.

No different then owning any exotic these days they all catch on fire!!

Don't these have some sort of insane areo design that if you got it quick enough it could do a full loop? Im positive I read it somewhere.

More downforce then weight is pretty easy to achieve. Especially with today's technology.
They were doing it in the 80's

Yup, the ground effect cars of that era had virtually solid suspension and were apparently excruciatingly painful to drive. Gilles Villeneuve absolutely hated them.

Most of the LeMans cars of the late 80's and early 90's had between 1500-2500kg of downforce at 250kph. Some even had 4000kg of downforce at 300kph.
