Cayman to get snail power.

Quote
Hot on the heels of the LA unveiling of the new 2013 Cayman coupe, comes   news that Porsche is readying a range-topping turbocharged version.
Italian website 0-100 reports that a new 2.5 litre four-cylinder turbo   boxer will join the range, sitting above the existing 205kW 2.7 litre and 242kW   3.4 litre naturally-aspirated sixers.
Earlier reports have suggested that Porsche has been developing a new   four-cylinder boxer to replace the six cylinder engines later in the model's   life cycle, but this latest report suggests it will instead be sold alongside   these versions.
These earlier reports also suggested the engine would use two turbos,   while 0-100 alludes to only one turbocharger being employed.
Either way, the engine’s output is likely to exceed 260kW/500Nm,   pushing performance beyond that of the 242kW Cayman S model.
A naturally aspirated version of the engine is also likely, which could   make its way into a price-leading Boxster variant, to fill some of the void left   by the indefinitely postponed ‘550’ sub-Boxster roadster project.
Lower capacity four cylinder engines will enable Porsche to improve   fuel efficiency and emissions beyond the improvements already extracted from the   six-cylinder engines, without necessarily sacrificing performance.
The report adds that the turbocharged four-cylinder coupe will be   badged ‘Cayman Turbo’, and be fitted exclusively with Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK   transmission.
The Cayman Turbo is being tipped to debut as early as next September’s   Frankfurt Motor Show, with a soft-top Boxster version also likely to   follow.

I am a massive porsche fan however this takes the biscuit for arrogance doesn't it...they'll be charging more for a 4cyl than a 6 cyl !!!!

If they release a 2 cyl Cayman it'll probably be $500k !!!!

Love everything about the company except their pricing....

good review
even though he reminded me of Ricky Gervais at times

if they were the equivalent in AUD of 48,000 pounds, I would be lined up at the Porsche dealer currently with a bag of cash, and probably a bribe to get me near the front of the queue

Like the last one, I am really struggling with the rear view.  The front looks ok, the sides look great, but the back just doesn't seem right.  And the electric wing looks terrible when raised.

If it drives better than the outgoing one then that will be a feat in itself though.  The 987 is probably the best balanced car I have driven.
